It’s here! The gigantic6.1-inch Huawei Ascend , which makes even the Samsung Galaxy S4 look puny, has landed on our shores, and it can be yours for less than the price of a Samsung Galaxy Note 2!

Samsung’s Galaxy Mega 6.3 phablet might have topped Huawei’s 6.1-inch behemoth on the size sheet, but it doesn’t keep up in the specs department. Under the 720p HD Gorilla Glass-coated display, you’ll find a beefy 1.5GHz quad-core processor coupled up with 2GB of RAM and an eight-megapixel camera strapped on the back. The Mate runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and claims an epic battery life of 22 hours of talk time. No need to be put off by the epic screen size either: Huawei’s made some clever tweaks to the software to help you use it one handed, like a keyboard that pops up to one side, in easy reach of your thumb.

What’s even more impressive is the price. Expansys has it priced up at £335 SIM-free, which is a whole lot cheaper than the £450 the Galaxy Note 2 would set you back, or even the £470 that the Galaxy Mega 6.3 will cost. For a whole lot less, you get a lot more phone for your cash, and a decent spec list that will last you for ages, as long as you don’t get tired of wielding a massive phone – or embarrassed!

Think you’ll be cashing in on this giant phablet, or are you waiting for Samsung’s next big phone? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
