Apple released last week the iOS 6.1.3 update featuring a security fix to the lock screen breach earlier. The lock screen pass code breach might be fixed at the moment. Yet another serious problem – battery life – surfaced. Many users reflect that the battery performance is on a decline since iOS 6.1.3 update.

So some netizens revealed on forums threads that their battery levels drop quickly. Some said they haven’t experienced similar battery level drop before. The thread immediately received millions of replies saying they have similar battery issues with their iPhone 4S. To face the battery performance issue with regards to iOS 6.1.3, users actively participated in exchanging views on battery save methods like factory reset, battery full charge cycle, closing background softwares… Etc. unfortunately, some say that the battery is still running poor even they have tried all necessary actions.

Indeed, it might not be a software issue. We have missed a critical point, apple’s battery is way behind the market. The backward battery on IPhone 4S and iPhone 5 only had 1400 mAh capacity which is almost half of the required capacity nowadays. With reference to other Android devices like the phablets and smartphones from Samsung, the standard capacity now is around 2300 mAh. The outstanding 1100 mAh can let you go on without charging for a day. The Galaxy S IV even has a 2600 mAh battery, doubling the capacity of iPhone. So what apple should do is not to update its firmware to make any fixes on the battery. The way to do this is to upgrade the hardware, bringing in long lasting batteries in the upcoming models.

By the way, iPhone 4S has been out for almost two years if we still remember the date when it was announced. Some users might own their device for more than one and a half year so it is not surprising to see a number of users having problems with their batteries. If you have subscribed to Apple Care, considering bringing it to Genius Bar for a check and they might offer you some advice or repair your phone.

We know that some of you might have jailbroken your phone and it is advised not to update the latest firmware from apple. If you haven’t updated, you are advised not to. But if you have updated to iOS 6.1.3 on iPhone 4S, mind sharing your first hand information with us?
